Coronavirus and Food Stamp (SNAP) benefits.

Coronavirus and Food Stamp (SNAP) benefits.

The financial impact of the coronavirus has been devastating. To help you through this crisis, states are beginning to make changes to food stamps (SNAP), unemployment, and other benefits.

We will add helpful information to the list of statuses below as we receive it.

If you are looking for information on your financial impact payment, learn more here.

The last.

Coronavirus and Food Stamp (SNAP) benefits.

Food stamps are working on your regular schedule.

There are two types of additional benefits that your state can send during this time:

  •     Maximum benefits: Most states send the maximum benefits for each household size. This means that households in these states will receive a raise if they were not already receiving the maximum amount of benefits.
  •     P-EBT: Some states are sending extra benefits to families who are enrolled in free or reduced price school meal programs.
  • We will add specific updates to the list of states below as we receive more information. These additional benefits will be automatically added to your EBT card. You do not need to call to confirm or request.
  • If you haven’t already, download the Fresh EBT app directly to your phone to get information on important changes and keep track of your EBT balance: download Fresh EBT

Coronavirus and evictions.

Many states are taking steps to protect people from evictions. If you are currently facing an eviction, you may be able to avoid it. Get more information and help at justshelter.org.

Coronavirus and unemployment benefits.

Many states are expanding unemployment benefits to help workers affected by the coronavirus, including part-time, self-employed and temporary workers. Even if you only had your job briefly, you could still qualify.

Please see your state’s Department of Labor website in the state list below for more information.

Coronavirus and utility payments.

Many utility companies (electricity, gas, water) will keep their services active for people who cannot pay due to lack of money due to the virus.

Call your utility company directly for more information on how to do this. If you have to decide between paying for utilities or buying food or any essentials, call first and find out about your options!

You may still have to pay past utility bills later.

Coronavirus and healthcare.

Some states are extending Medicaid recertifications. We will add specific updates to the list of states below as we receive more information.

Additional Resources.
